Overview

Ringworm
Ringworm is a common fungal infection of the skin, hair, or nails. Despite its name, it is not caused by a worm. The infection is produced by fungi called dermatophytes and can occur on different parts of the body, producing conditions such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, scalp ringworm, or ring-shaped skin infections. Symptoms commonly include itching, scaling, redness, cracking, or an expanding rash. Ringworm spreads through direct contact with an infected person or animal and through contaminated objects or surfaces.
Premature Ejaculation
Premature ejaculation is a common sexual problem in which ejaculation occurs sooner than a person or their partner would like, often with limited control over ejaculation and associated distress. It may occur from the beginning of sexual activity or develop after a period of previously satisfactory sexual function. Causes can involve psychological, relationship, neurological, hormonal, or other physical factors.

Diagnosis

Ringworm
Ringworm is often diagnosed by examining the characteristic appearance of the rash and considering exposure history. If the diagnosis is uncertain, a healthcare professional may collect skin scrapings, hair, or nail material for microscopic examination or fungal culture. A specialized examination may be useful for scalp or nail infections. Because several skin conditions can resemble ringworm, laboratory confirmation can be particularly useful when infection is extensive, recurrent, or not responding to appropriate treatment.
Premature Ejaculation
Premature ejaculation is usually diagnosed from a detailed sexual and medical history. A healthcare professional asks about the timing of ejaculation, degree of control, how consistently the problem occurs, and the distress it causes. Questions about relationships, anxiety, erectile function, medicines, and other health conditions may help identify contributing factors. A physical examination or laboratory tests may be performed when another medical condition is suspected.

Prevention

Ringworm
Ringworm can be reduced by avoiding direct contact with infected skin and by not sharing towels, clothing, bedding, combs, helmets, or sports equipment with an infected person. Keeping skin clean and dry, changing damp clothing, wearing appropriate footwear in communal wet areas, and treating infected pets can help reduce transmission. Contact sports facilities should maintain good hygiene. People with a suspected infection should seek treatment and avoid close contact that could spread the fungus.
Premature Ejaculation
Premature ejaculation cannot always be prevented because it may result from a combination of psychological and physical factors. Managing stress and anxiety, maintaining open communication with a partner, addressing erectile or other health problems, and seeking help early can reduce the impact of symptoms. Healthy lifestyle habits and appropriate treatment of underlying medical conditions may also support sexual health.

Risk Factors

Ringworm
Risk factors for ringworm include close contact with infected people or animals, living in warm and humid environments, participation in contact sports, sharing personal items, and frequent exposure to communal showers or locker rooms. Minor skin injuries can make infection easier. Conditions that weaken immune defenses can increase susceptibility. Wearing damp clothing or footwear for prolonged periods may encourage fungal growth. Children and people with frequent close-contact exposure may have increased risk.
Premature Ejaculation
Risk factors may include anxiety about sexual performance, relationship stress, depression, erectile difficulties, hormonal or thyroid problems, inflammation of the prostate or urethra, and previous sexual experiences associated with rapid ejaculation. Stress and concerns about sexual performance can reinforce the problem. The condition can affect people at different ages and does not necessarily result from a single physical abnormality.
