Overview

Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and is a degenerative joint disease that occurs when the protective cartilage cushioning the ends of bones gradually wears down. It commonly affects the knees, hips, hands, feet, and spine. Symptoms usually develop slowly over time and may include pain, stiffness, reduced flexibility, and difficulty performing daily activities. Although osteoarthritis cannot be completely reversed, proper treatment and lifestyle modifications can significantly improve quality of life.
Concussion
Concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury caused by a blow, bump, or jolt to the head that temporarily affects brain function.

Diagnosis

Osteoarthritis
Diagnosis is based on medical history, physical examination, assessment of joint movement, X-rays, MRI in selected cases, and evaluation of symptoms such as pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility.
Concussion
Diagnosis is based on symptom assessment, neurological examination, and sometimes imaging tests.

Prevention

Osteoarthritis
Maintain a healthy body weight, exercise regularly, strengthen supporting muscles, avoid repetitive joint strain, prevent injuries, and seek early treatment for joint problems.
Concussion
Using protective equipment, seat belts, helmets, and following safety measures can help prevent concussion.

Risk Factors

Osteoarthritis
Risk factors include increasing age, obesity, previous joint injuries, family history of osteoarthritis, repetitive occupational activities, sedentary lifestyle, and muscle weakness around the affected joints.
Concussion
Participation in contact sports, previous concussions, and risky activities increase risk.
