Overview

Measles
Measles is a highly contagious viral infection that commonly causes fever, cough, runny nose, red or watery eyes, and a characteristic widespread rash. The illness can cause complications involving the lungs, ears, brain, or other organs, particularly in young children and people with weakened immunity. Measles spreads readily through respiratory particles and can remain infectious in indoor environments after an infected person has left. Vaccination provides highly effective protection.
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Antisocial personality disorder is a mental health condition characterized by a persistent pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of other people. Behaviors may include repeated rule breaking, deceitfulness, impulsivity, aggression, irresponsibility, and limited concern about the consequences of actions. Symptoms begin earlier in life and continue into adulthood.

Diagnosis

Measles
Measles is suspected when a person has fever and the characteristic respiratory symptoms followed by a widespread rash, particularly when there has been a known exposure or inadequate immunity. Laboratory testing is used to confirm many suspected cases, often with molecular testing or serologic methods. Because measles is highly contagious, suspected cases may require prompt public health notification and appropriate infection-control measures while diagnostic evaluation is completed.
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Diagnosis requires a detailed mental health assessment and review of long-term patterns of behavior. Clinicians consider disregard for others, deceitfulness, impulsivity, aggression, irresponsibility, and other characteristic behaviors, as well as evidence of conduct-related problems earlier in life. Other mental health or substance-related conditions must also be considered.

Prevention

Measles
Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent measles. Maintaining recommended vaccination according to the local immunization schedule helps protect both individuals and communities. During outbreaks or after significant exposure, public health authorities may recommend additional measures for susceptible people. Good respiratory hygiene and avoiding close contact with infected individuals can reduce transmission, although vaccination provides much stronger protection than these measures alone.
Antisocial Personality Disorder
There is no established way to completely prevent antisocial personality disorder. Stable and supportive childhood environments, early recognition of persistent conduct problems, appropriate psychological or behavioral intervention, and attention to substance use and family difficulties may help reduce harmful behavioral patterns and improve long-term functioning.

Risk Factors

Measles
The greatest risk is lack of immunity to measles. Unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated people are vulnerable to infection when exposed. Risk of severe complications is higher among young children, pregnant people, adults with certain health conditions, and people with weakened immune systems. International travel or exposure during outbreaks can increase the likelihood of encountering the virus. High population immunity substantially limits transmission and outbreaks.
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Risk factors may include a family history of antisocial or other personality disorders, persistent behavioral problems during childhood, conduct-related difficulties, adverse childhood experiences, unstable family environments, and certain biological or temperamental characteristics. Substance use and social adversity may further complicate behavior and functioning.
